» After installing PHPFanlist and getting not-too-far into transferring each member one-by-one into a batch file (realising I was only 4 in and with another 294 to go was disheartening), I decided to install Enth3 instead. You're probably thinking, "twitter on little birdie, but what does this mean to me?". The point is, everything is fixed. Now I'm going to have some breakfast.

» The official Juliet Marillier Website has been given a new makeover, and while making a quick visit there I've learnt she has joined the writer's blog at Writer Unboxed where she will be making monthly posts. Her first blog entry, Hummingbirds and Owls, can be found here.

Okay, now I'm going to forage in the pantry for some breakfast...

11 March, 2007

» I'm having a problem with the fanlisting script in which I cannot seem to be able to log in and update it... That teaches me for still using phpFanbase! I'll work on fixing this tomorrow by transferring the memberlist into a new script.

09 January, 2007

» The affiliate page has been updated, and a lot of broken links removed. That's about it for now!

08 October, 2006

» You may have noticed the site has been offline? I ran into a couple of hiccups while transferring my domain to it's new webhost, but finally Juliet Marillier Fan is back online! I've updating the fanlisting and added 12 new members while deleting tons and tons of spam from the join form. In the eventual future I plan to convert the fansite to Wordpress as my coding is incredibly messy, and I'm too lazy pressed for time to handcode my updates much longer.

The Book List & Info page has been updated.

» If you're in Australia or New Zealand, don't forget to keep an eye out for the Well of Shades, the third in the Bridei Chronicles. JM is due back today from a trip to New Zealand and Western Australia. I hope she enjoyed her holiday here in NZ - the weather hasn't always been the friendliest!

22 July, 2006

» Wildwood Dancing was released in New Zealand and Australia on 1 July. Don't forget to keep an eye out for it at your bookshops or order it online!

I know the number of Pending Members in the fanlisting is rolling into the hundreds, but unfortunately this outstanding amount is mainly spam! Those evil senders of spam have found their way to the join form, and I have the wonderful task of deleting each one - one by one - so that the correct amount of members can be portrayed. It's one of those things that isn't high on my 'things to do with my spare time today' list, so please bear with it for a while and I'll try to make sure I approve those REAL fans ASAP. I will meanwhile try to find a way to stop the spammers. (Wish me luck!)

Important Site News
I am moving to a new hosting company in the next few days, and as not-quite-human.net will then become an addon domain, so the URL of the JM Fanlisting will be changing. You will need to update your link to http://not-quite-human.net/julietmarillier. Apologies for the inconvenience!

25 March, 2006

» Congratulations to Juliet Marillier! Blade of Fortriu won the Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novel 2005.

Blade of Fortriu is book two of The Bridei Chronicles and was released in Australia in September 2005. The UK saw it's release just a few days ago, and it will be available in America later this year.

» Don't forget to keep an eye out for JM's young adult novel Wildwood Dancing which is due for Australian release in July 2006.

Site Updates
» Thanks to Samee Babe who sent in the first chapter of her Sevenwaters fan fic, and Sara for sending in her fan art. These have now been added to the appropriate sections of the site, and I hope ya'll enjoy them and send in your own fan work if you have any! The Reader Feedback, Book List & Info and Affiliates pages has also been updated, and the fanlisting now has over 280 listed fans!

28 May, 2005

» At the time of making this update, we have listed 209 JM fans! Congrats to Jen who was lucky number 200. :)

» There's an interesting 'author2author' discussion between Juliet Marillier and Jules Watson (historical novelist) available at beatrice.com. Here's an excerpt regarding the question of themes vs time periods and events:

I think the answer is both. Certainly with The Dark Mirror, I was captivated by the mystery of the Picts and the wildness of northern Scotland, and with the Norse books my love for Orkney played a part in choosing the setting. But usually the spark for me is an event from either history or mythology that touches the imagination.
Have a gander at the link above for the full interview!

» For Italian fans, Daughter of the Forest will be out in June. For further information regarding upcoming German and Italian book releases, check out Juliet Marillier's News page.

24 March, 2005

» julietmarillier.com reports that American and Canadians will unfortunately have to wait a bit longer for The Dark Mirror as publication has been delayed until August (for reasons beyond JM's control).

» For the Dutch, Italian and Spanish fans; the Dutch language edition of The Dark Mirror is expected to be out around July 2005, Daughter of the Forest is currently being translated in Italian, and translation rights to the Sevenwaters Trilogy have been brought by Spanish publisher Edhasa.

Site Updates:
» The fanlisting is currently up to date, more reader feedback has been added, and I've changed the background colour of the site to something a bit lighter. What do you think? :)

10 March, 2005

» If you've checked out Juliet's official site lately you'll have read that editorial changes to Blade of Fortriu, second of The Bridei Chronicles, have nearly finished and she is also close to completing Wildwood Dancing, one of her upcoming books aimed for young adults. Juliet also reports (on her site) that she has heavy writing commitments this year, and on behalf of fans worldwide I'd like to say we definitely appreciate the efforts! :)

Site Updates:
» The Feedback page has been updated (finally!) with four new comments. Thanks for sending them in, and keep them rolling! :) By the way, only six more fanlisting members to go and we reach the 200 mark!

» I just noticed I referred to The Dark Mirror as The Dark Tower in my last update. Oops... It's corrected now, but seems I must've had Stephen King on the brain at the time! And then there was me referring to the date as 2004 rather than 2005...

30 January, 2005

» I've updated the fanlisting with 30 or so new members - only 20 more and we've reached 200 registered fans of JM's work!

» There is more feedback from readers to be added with my next update. Sorry it can't be done now but I'm about to pop off to bed before my eyeballs get any closer to the keyboard. Thanks to those who've contributed with their feedback! Now then, goodnight. :)

» Who's read The Dark Mirror yet? Care to send in a book review for addition to the site? If so, you're welcome to send an email to webmiss(at)not-quite-human.net - just remember to put "Juliet Marillier site" in the subject line as I get a lot of spam and tend to delete that which I do not recognise.

10 October, 2004

» At long overdue last, an update to the JM fansite! I'm sorry it's taken so long, but I've dug out as many things as I can to update with, to try and make it up to you ;). Now, what do we have...

» If you've been keeping up with the updates at the official Juliet Marillier website you'll know that The Dark Mirror (first book of The Bridei Chronicles) was released in Australia in late August, and will be released in America in May 2005. An interesting and comprehensive page of the Celtic and Pict history behind Dark Mirror is also available at Juliet's website, as well as an except from the book.

» Calling all Portuguese fans A member sent in a link to her discussion forum: Sevenwaters Portuguese Forum. :)

» A while ago, someone sent in a link to their beautiful fanart to list at the site, but unfortunately I've lost the link and their details! I'm so sorry about that! I'd really love to display the fanart here so if the person who sent the link in is reading this, please email me again! (Remember to put "Juliet Marillier Fansite" in the subject line, or I may mistake it for spam mail and not open it.)

» Elizabeth Fisher asked in her reader feedback if anyone knows of a particular quote she's looking for from the Sevenwaters Trilogy. She said it has something to do with trust and that you can only trust in death. If anyone knows of this quote and can help Elizabeth out, please email her at chicken244@aol.com :)

Site Updates:
» The Readers' Feedback page has been updated with new feedback. Thanks to the people who've sent in their thoughts on Juliet's work, and thank you also to those who've signed the site Guestbook! Out of the several various fansites I run, this is the one that receives the most feedback from those who use it, so it's great to know both that the site is appreciated, and that Juliet's writing inspires people to place their feedback :)

» The list of JM's books have at last been placed on their own page (Book List & Info) and the content expanded a little more to include thumb images of their covers, their book sleeve descriptions, and links to book reviews and excerpts when I can find them. So now if you've read one or two of Juliet's books and are looking for details on the rest, you won't have to trawl all over Google for info. ;)

9 July, 2004

» As I'm hoping to adding more content here, I decided to expand the site a little, but I've kept the original site graphics as Adia did such a beautiful job of blending John Jude Palencar's artwork, I couldn't possibly replace it. Now, on with other news!

» Juliet Marillier is bringing out a new book in September! Yay! Titled Dark Mirror, this novel is the first of the The Bridei Chronicles, which will be set in the kingdom of the Picts. From the official site; "The series follows the life of Bridei, son of Maelchon, who was sent from his home in Wales at an early age to be fostered by the powerful druid Broichan." Much more information on the story can be found here.

10 June, 2004

» Juliet Marillier is currently holding a competition for "the best recipes based on her books". The contest sounds like heaps of fun, and runs until July 30th. Winners receive an autographed copy of one of her books! Further information can be found in the 'competitions' link of her official website.

» I've added two new sections to the site. People can now send in Juliet Marillier fan fiction if they have any, or submit their views on JM's writing in the Interact page. If you have any other suggestions on expanding/improving the site, please let me know!
